Hi,

I'd personally suggest www.constantcontact.com for its ease of use, if you have deep pockets, ExactTarget.com is unreal, then use the three custom modules someone added as an addon a few days ago in the contributions forum.

Code: Select all

It was like that when I found it, honest!

I am using mailchimp.com services.

Pretty reasonabily priced and for a start, they let you send 3000 emails for free!!! which is actually pretty good.

you can see how I use it on my customer site here: http://www.oyebeautyhouse.com/newsletter

I'm actually almost finished building an independent module that will hook into the mailchimp API using Ajax.

It'll be a side bar module and I'll release it at no cost.

Do you mean you will have our customers automatically signing/subscribing into mailchimp?

Yes, mailchimp offers a rather good service for free and if you have many customers at a reasonable price. So rather than try and rebuild the inbuilt newletter function to copy mailchimps service I thought why not just use the mailchimp service.

Hi Q!

Does your newsletter module take care of the situation below.

A person registers for newsletters using a particular email address. Later wants to buy something and hence does full registration using the same email address...

Will he be able to register without any issues?

Yes. There are no conflicts from newsletter to customer. The newsletter emails are in their own table to be kept separate, and a cleaning operation prevents duplicate emails from being sent to the same email twice.

Newsletter Module
98% of my addons have been updated to support OpenCart v1.4.4.

There were not many changes between v1.4.4 and v1.4.7 and many people have said that they were able to upgrade without any problems with the v1.4.4 modules

The known remaining mods:

•Batch Edit - Being reworked to support all fields dynamically and possibly more than just products. (currently: v1.3.4 or less)

•RSS - Working on better character encoding support (currently: v1.4.0 or less)
•Restricted Categories - (currently: v1.4.4 or less)
All other mods should be up to date.

Q >> how does your module register with the backend? can I add or remove people from the mailing list as an admin as well?
also, can I expand on the info you register, if I want to add a company name, address, etc (sort of a customer, but they haven't bought anything yet)

Qphoria, I am interested in your Newsletter Module, but I have a few questions before I purchase.

1) Where does it save the subscribers to in the OpenCart admin area?

2) Will I be able to add/edit/delete subscribers from the OpenCart admin area? If this feature is not currently available, how much would you charge to program this functionality? You can email directly if you like with the quote.

3) Can I export subscribers to a CSV file via the OpenCart admin area? If this feature is not currently available, how much would you charge to program this functionality? You can email directly if you like with the quote.

Thanks.

I purchased the newsletter module from Qphoria today and unfortunately there is no way to manage any of the newsletter subscribers via the OpenCart administration. I have tried to contact Qphoria 3 times on his site, but have not received any response. I would like to see if there is anyone on this board who would be interested in doing a custom mod based of this newsletter module. I need the following modifications.

1) I would like to be able to manage the subscribers (add/edit/delete) via the admin area.

2) I would like to be able to export subscribers to a CSV file via the OpenCart admin area.

If anyone can do this work, please send me a PM. Thanks.

You can do all of this with Mailchimp.

It continues to astonish me why anyone is using the inbuilt newsletter system. It's barely functional for all the reasons you have just mentioned.
