Resizing left column

I know how to resize columns and can make the left column the size I want. however when I do this the box tops and box bottom don't match up. So, I can resize them by editing the box_top.png and box_bottom.png. However, when I do this it changes the size of the tops and bottoms on the right column also.

How can I change the tops and bottoms on only the left side?

I am not sure where to edit that text or what to change it to.

The file I use to edit the size is stylesheet.css and I don't see any of that stuff in there.

Can you please clarify what to do?
