I've been getting 10-20 spam enquiries per day the last week. Read up and looks like Google reCAPTCHA should help. I went to extensions and enabled it. Went to Google and got the site key/secret key and added them and enabled the extension. However when I go to system/settings/store/options and enable the Google reCAPTCHA in that spot I get this server error:

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator at webmaster@selecttackle.com to inform them of the time this error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Am I doing this in the right order or does something else need to be enabled/disabled for it to work? Are there any other suggestions to get rid of these spam enquiries?

You need to look in your server's error logs. The PHP error log is often called error_log in the web root or in a logs folder up one level.

Or you can use the SpamBot Buster which doesn't require a captcha at all, it's therefore more user friendly for site visitors.

It should work with most web themes. Your Contact Us appears to be in a standard format. However, you are using a different checkout, that would require some adjustments for the checkout registration or checkout guest, for the SpamBot Buster to deal with.

Possibly yes, if you know PHP and a bit about OpenCart event handlers. If not, we can do it, in most cases for free.
