Is there a way where I can make it so OpenCart only requires the email address and phone number for new customers instead of also requiring their mailing address?

Firstly, why? You won't be able to send them any products without an address ...

Digital downloadable products don't, or shouldn't, require an address?

Export/Import Tool * SpamBot Buster * Unused Images Manager * Instant Option Price Calculator * Number Option * Google Tag Manager * Survey Plus * OpenTwig

There are many reasons why someone might not need to know a physical address for customers such as digital downloads as someone else mentioned. In my case, the online store sells items that are only available for pickup. Making the sign up process as simple as possible should always be our goal as website designers and making customers provide information that isn't even used goes against that rule.

Some of them already exist:

I want to modify the code myself instead of using an extension.

Does anyone have any advice about doing that?

Are you wanting to remove address entirely or just the checkout/registration portion?

I just don’t want it to be part of the login process when they create an account.

Hey sw!tch,

I don’t want to use extensions because I want to learn how to modify the code, but I also don’t mind paying for help.

You have always been very helpful here and I would like to send some money your way if you don’t mind helping me make a few changes.

I think that I already sent you email but I didn’t hear back from you. If you get a chance, send me a message...

Hi All
Did this ever get resolved????
I would like to remove the requirement for a phone number for Newsletter sign up
Just want name and Email address, not all their other vital statistics
Happy to alter the code if thats what it needs, just would be handy if someone knew where to go rather than me spending 2 weeks trying to figure it out
Thanks
Mike
