Is a direct URL for a laoded Product Comparrison Available?

In comparing items, is there a way to create a URL that will contain the two items to compare?
Typical approach is to add the items one by one to compare up to 4 items.

However, I would like to be able to create and link that will take someone to the comparison page and show the two or three items in comparison.
Is this possinble in passing some product Ids through the URL?

It's definitely not possible by default, so only a 3rd party extension can help you (if it even exists).
