The model field has to be filled in. But SKU is the individual stock or article number. So in essence what is the difference between the two.
What I hope the answer is that Model is "iPhone11" and SKU is "iphone11_2", "iphone11_3", "iphone11_4". Hope for a real good explanation as I have to design my article-number-system to suit OC.

I know what SKU means. I want to know the difference between Model and SKU in the context of OC. The developers must have had something on their mind to create two fields. There must be a difference.
Btw: Wikipedia is blocked here in China. It is rather annoying as you rightly suggest it to look up terms. :'(

Wow, that's shocking.

Anyway, OpenCart doesn't really do much/any processing with those fields so use them however you want.

The model is stored on the store's database but also on the order while the SKU only remains on the store levels.

The most generated errors being found on Opencart forum originates from contributed programming. The increased post counters are caused by redundancies of the same solutions that were already provided prior.
