I need some category images to be unclickable.

Hope someone can help me.
If you click the main menu to one of the categories, it brings up the boxes showing the category images and you can click which one you want to see the products.
I need to write some code so that I can make some of the category boxes clickable, and some not clickable.
I know I can take out the link in the category.twig, but that will effect all of them rather than just some of them.
Does anyone know how/if this can be done?
