seo url suggestions

I have a question regarding the seo urls and names of categories/sub-categories
I have a shop that sells wall-sticker. For example, i have a category named "wall-stickers" with a sub category named "animals", and the products are: lion, snake etc. The link is wall-stickers/animals/lion.
Should i name the sub category for seo purposes "animals wall-stickers" and the product "lion wall-sticker" with the seo-url : wall-stickers/animal-wall-stickers/lion-wall-sticker or any other combination you suggest? Does it helps or the first option is better?

Thanks in advance,

ALWAYS include keywords in the seo urls. "animal" isn't enough. Personally I would make it "animal-wall-stickers-home-decor" as home decor itself is a key word you should try to rank on.

Do some research and see what your competitors use (especially those coming up first on google). Use google keyword research as well - find what is being searched for and structure your categories (do people search for "animal" or perhaps "wild animal" or "Pets" or "African Animals" more)?

I would also do some information pages and/or a blog on how to apply wall stickers, how to remove them, etc.

Thanks for your reply.
My first competitor use links like the one below:
not new-york-wall-sticker or urban-wall-sticker. The site is word press although and he sells only wall-stickers, I sell also laptop stickers and car stickers.

So you suggest I name the subcategories with the main keyword (wall-sticker) and also the product itself?
I have to mention that I added on page title the field SkU an Location to have more keywords on title.
So i Have page title = Location + Name of product + Sku => Sticker + Lion + wall-stickers
I didn't named all products with "Wall-sticker" in front of the name of sticker for repetition and visual purposes.

I would but I tend to believe more keywords is better. Yes, it's a bit repetitive to read, but to a search engine, it gives your keywords more "weight".

I would also mix it up with alternate keywords like "wall-decals" even "wallpaper" now and then - remember not everyone knows what they are called :) Do some google keyword research and see what terms are being searched for. Often these surprise you and give you ideas you may never have thought of.

Perhaps make your categories "floral-wall-stickers" and products "daisy-wall-decals" or "daisy-wall-decor" or something. You could also mix in a few "wall-art" "wall-decor" etc. And of course, use the same keywords on the page in the title, description, tags, etc.

I would create a good paragraph or two I could include on every product giving the features and benefits of them like easy to apply and remove, easier than wallpaper, tons of designs to mix/match, etc. that includes your main keywords. Vary it a bit or come up with a few for the different types you carry, the manufacturer, whatever. Do a good paragraph on the category description including keywords for that specific category. A good category page can do wonders (one thing I'm working more on now myself lol).

I have a notepad file of keywords for my various sites I can pull open on the side as I'm working on products and try to include them naturally into sentences whenever I can. And I'm always refining and editing :) The process never really ends! Just try NOT to change the seo-url once you set it otherwise you will need to do a 301 redirect from the old one to the new one.

One more question and i'm not bothering you anymore :)
the seo url should be exactly the same as the product name for seo?

Thank you very much for your replies.

No, doesn't need to be the same at all. The seo-url doesn't have to make sense like the product name should so you can add an extra keyword or 2 in the url :)

And no bother. I know people get confused about seo. I'm still learning too but so far have had success getting many of my stores back to the first page of results after having to rebuild them all in opencart in April. Search for my other topic about seo and opencart for some off page seo tips too.
