Flash frontend

I'm in the planning process of a new t-shirt customization site and would be interested in any feedback.

I need to have an entirely Flash based frontend, where the products are infinitely customizable. I will supply the Flash module the information such as style/ colour/ size and logo design/ colour via an XML feed. I want to receive the response URL back from the Flash module when an/ the 'add to cart button' and then process this information through the checkout/ payment system on OpenCart. All the customisable font size/ style would be added to the DB as if they were option such as colour and size.

Does this sound feasible? What problems am I likely to run into?

Thanks,

possible? yes.
feasible? depends on your budget.

i'm an expert actionscript developer and something like that would take me quite a few weeks ( at least ) depending on the scope and scale of all the features you'd need translated over from the functionality of a cart. and my rate is $125 an hour, so a rough starting estimate for it to get done right , the first time, would be in the 25-35,000 range.

if you have at least that much allotted for development of what you're wanting, then yes, it'd be feasible to find a developer who could do what you are wanting.

Well I wasn't really looking for a quote.

I already work with a Flash designer, but we have a client who cannot afford to have a completely custom built site, so we are looking for cheaper solutions.

I was really looking for possible pitfalls of attempting and hence pricing this project.

I thought it may be just a question of switching off the template and mimicking the 'add to cart' button from Flash, then using OpenCart as it was designed.

I'm quite in PHP and MySQl, but really need to know if I need to find someone with knowledge of Javascript.

Thanks for any help.

then anything that would take the already existing front end of a system and replace it with a flash front end, would not be a cheaper solution.

wouldn't the person who you already work with for flash related things have a good idea as to the pitfalls?

maybe the back end but not the front end.

huh? javascript? i mean there are aspects of javascript in opencart, but don't need someone with knowledge of that to get it to work.maybe you mean actionscript?

looks like you are looking for answers but don't have a clear grasp on what is needed. contact someone capable and trust to explain the requirements for what your requests are.
