Paypal with option for creditcard payment

Hi,

I am setting up a new Australian store and would like to integrate Paypal standard as the payment gateway.
I've tried to use the Paypal Express or Direct within the admin, but when processing they said 'Merchant country not supported'. and since then I've switched back to Paypal standard, but there is no option for users to pay directly by creditcard without registering Paypal account.

Anyone can help?

This is a setting you need to toy with in paypal, not Opencart. Under web payments in your profile at paypal make sure it's set to "paypal account not required"

I couldn't find it anywhere in the paypal's 'website payment preferences'? any idea where to find it?

Yes its there... called "Paypal Account Optional". Set to "on"

I've tried this and still gives me the 'The merchant country is not supported.' message. Im from Portugal is that a problem?

Yes. Paypal only supports US and UK
