In the settings under Server there is:

* Encryption Key:
Please provide a secret key that will be used to encrypt private information when processing orders.

I do have an SSL certificate. What do I need to put in that box?

I have Use SSL selected for yes, but the checkout process is not going to https pages.

Is there another setting I need to make to have the checkout process use the SSL?

I saw in config.php
// HTTPS
define('HTTPS_SERVER', ' ');
define('HTTPS_IMAGE', ' ');
I added the URLs for those and that seems to have taken care of the problem

its currently only used with pp_standard to encrypt the order id. So enter any randong sequence of alphanumerics (or whatever it might support)

If you've filled out the config.php with the https address and set the ssl to true in the admin area, then only the content-sensitive pages will go https.

-Create account
-checkout
-account history

My client has an SSL but at what stage of the checkout process does this get used when using PayPal Pro for Credit Cards? I was thinking the Payment page should already be on an https secure page or does this happen after info is submitted?

Thanks.

Once again my fingers have typed quicker than my brain!

I have managed to get the SSL to kick in correctly now & prior to entering Checkout, however - an interesting caveat: my browser says some items on the page are insecure. I have Google Chat mod installed. Do you suppose this iframe could be causing the problem as is pulling content from outside?

Yes. the googlechat frame could be insecure. view the source on a https page and search for http:// to see what else could be insecure.

Many thanks again, Q - found it!

It was a Feedjit widget I have to monitor visitors. Good thing is if in IE, I believe user can opt not to see insecure items & that's all that SSL will not show now.

Google Chat was also insecure but managed to enable this to pull an https image as did the same with an 'addthis' widget I have on the site.

Cheers!
