Hi,

So, we have Sagepay + Merchant acc. as the payment gateway on our site and I'm wondering if anyone has implemented a way to charge more for certain Card types?

I can see a few mods that are along the right lines but they simply allow you to set a standard fee on the payment type, i.e. paypal or sagepay or other which doesn't seem very logical to me since setting up a merchant account is costly and incurs monthly fees so you are generally only going to set up one of these.

So, essentially, Credit cards such as Mastercard, Visa Commercial, etc have fees incurred of 2.5% - 3.5% and other basic debit cards have a flat rate fee of <£1.00. I think this is pretty standard accross all merchant accounts as the card types will have set fees etc.

So on a £500 order for example, it could be a loss of £12.50+ for simply taking a credit card. As alot of other companies do, they simply pass this additional cost onto the client/customer and I am simply wondering if there is a way, mod or the like of implementing this into opcart? All we'd require is a card selection radio option on checkout.

(If it doesn't exsist I'll pay for the coding of it as we're losing money each day potentially.)

Thanks. Look forward to some thoughts on this matter!
Tophat.

I have my own opinions on "processing fees" but you didn't ask my opinion so..... ;D

I believe this is what you are looking for here: http://opencartguru.com/payment-type-fe ... ent%20type

Hey, thanks for your reply.

I'm sure you do and so do I for that matter! hah. The problem is that most people have both types of cards and therefore this way will simply push people to use their debits instead of credits. It's the card operators that should be questioned as their fees seem unnecessarily high.

Unfortunately that module doesn't suffice I'm afraid. There are also quite a few others similar mods, however as I've pointed out above already they are all fixated on different payment types, which isn't very useful for solving the problem of charging more for specific card types!?!!

Okay then, the solution for you is to place on onChange event that fires a function. When they choose a card type from the drop down menu it will fire the function and check the card type. With Ajax you will contact a simple function in the control that will then send back a command to change the total "depending upon the card type". The total on the page will then change dynamically. Or, if you want to list something that say's "processing fee" that price will change dynamically. The point is, it's doable. I can do this for you. Just contact me on Skype at Involution Media or email me at joe@involutionmedia.com

Hi,

I'm looking for the same solution. I tried using the above email (joe@involutionmedia.com) but apparently the email address is no longer valid. Any help or info from anyone regarding this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
