Why can you only choose one product per RMA in 1.5.2.1? In the prior OC build you could actually choose multiple products. Some orders have many products and to make a customer or an admin generated one RMA per product is ridiculous. Anyone? This is a major problem in my book. O0

Ok then.. please do.
I downloaded 1.5.2.1 a week ago. I hope I am posting this in the correct forum :choke:
I did a search for RMA and found this post. I noticed that it did not have an answer so I wish to comment. It's a little disconcerting that you are suggesting this person uninstall their Open Cart instead of dealing with the obvious problem with RMA. I also upgraded to 1.5.2.1 and am baffled as to why you can only apply one product to the RMA. RMA's in general are intended to cover a number of products if part of the same order. So, my question is how do I RE enable the ability to apply multiple products to the RMA? I have a business that generates a ton of returns by nature.

How about some objective advice: If you are really that unhappy with it just uninstall your current version and reinstall a prior. What do you have to lose? That way the cry fest can cease.

Do people RMA that much. Are you selling that many faulty items that you expect them to be returned in bulk?

Actually, if you have the misfortune in selling "shoes" then yes. The person that posted this is selling shoes which does in fact generate the most rma's ever in the history of eCommerce lol. Second to that would be anything retail "that you can't try on". Other than that I would say no.

Is there a way of getting the use of selecting multiple products back through the RMA because as a customer I have sent multiple items back and so would like my customers to have the chance to too if at all possible.

I didn't find this topic when I searched originally and was pointed in its direction ;)

I must concur, e-commerce sites that sell clothing and other related items will always have returns if the customer doesn't select the correct size or color.

On one of the stores I manage, they deal a lot with students for their supplies. Not all students decide to stay in a program and leave within the first 30 days they are in the program. I was, as well as the customers that use the RMA system, were a bit upset that they had to submit multiple RMA's to send back their items. I wish I could have warned them, but I was unaware there was even a change to the RMA system.

Worse still, the data that was lost after upgrading to 1.5.2.1. Kind of hard to show a history, when it was removed when the table was deleted during the upgrade. Maybe we could understand this a bit better if it was shared as to why it needed to be modified. I know I didn't see any issues that would be cause for a change.

A way of either reverting the RMA back to allowing multiple items as in the previous version or a fix in a patch is really needed, even a vQmod?

Running 1.5.2.2 with all patches installed here.

i just found it easier if the rma system was changed to one item per request.

i think there would be few instances where multiple items need to be sent back from the same order.

Daniel,

I respect you totally because of Opencart, but this is something that the users should have been asked about. I just can't understand why this advancement would move backwards.

Is there a way to disable the RMA system? My clients will have to find a new system for handling this. It is not feasible for them to use this RMA system considering the added time it will take to process the RMA's now.

They deal a lot with students. If a student drops out after purchasing their items..and they never used the products, they can return them within 30 days for a refund. The average order for students is around 15 items. As you can imagine, this would take some considerable time to complete just one returned order.

Yep, I agree that it was cumbersome in having to add products in the previous RMA section but that was due to the awkwardness of the AUTO FILL, not directly to the concept of "multiple products". Not only does it leave people lost in terms of how to use it but even after you learn to use it you have to somehow remember what letter the product starts with to even trigger the auto fill lol (this is not practical). Two select boxes. One with current categories and the other will dynamically fill with products according to what category is chosen all via Ajax.

These are just my thoughts and opinions. I was only bringing it up because if it "does" pass and it's reverted back it would be pointless to use the same system.

As I stated above I have as a customer ordered several items, and decided to send everything back, with this process I would have had to spend a while creating RMA's for each item, if the shop didn't have that in place I know I would not have shopped there again!

I really do think this would be best as a choice for the shop owner to decide in admin (single or multiple products per request) as they will know what will work for them... Or as avvici mentions, perhaps a change to the way the or section was designed?

For me I just wish I could get the multiple per request back even just temporarily.

Is there any plans to redevelop this at any point or is it dead in the water?

The lack of response on this issue is a clear response to your question.

I have since removed Returns off the Customer Service menu and will not be using the built in RMA system as it stands. It will remain off until you can at least type in their order number and select the products and quantity that they are sending back. The downside to the old RMA was the customer had to type in their order number, and their products manually.

If this is to be restored to multiple products, it would be better to be able to find the order and then select what is coming back from that order ;)

Your suggestions are decent ones that would make the RMA system in Opencart a stand out feature, we can only hope....

Trust me, it's in the right hands ;) I wouldn't worry about the lack or response.
