Has anyone had a problem with the loading of images in the image slideshow? I am using Opencart 1.5.1.3 and have 3 images all of around 50KB in size. With two in the slideshow the images load instantly and transition smoothly. If i add a third, still with a size of 50KB, there is a delay intially loading the first image on some machines (not mine the clients) and the images do not transition so smoothly. Has anyone else come across a similiar problem?

could you give an example? to me the loading issue sounds more like randomly slow internet. Non smooth transitions - dunno - example please.

Hi there, thanks for your response. I have re-added the image that is causing loading problems, though as i say, i cannot reproduce the issue on my config - the customer assures me that it works fine without the 'pink' image, but problems occur with the 'pink' image.
by non-smooth transitions i mean that it sometimes takes 4 seconds to transition to the next slide but sometimes takes 10/15......
Appreciate your comments

Your images are in PNG format. Convert them to JPEG and compress them by about 50% and they'll download a lot faster.
To save more time, you can try using Magic Slideshow which loads faster than nivoslider and does not require jQuery.

I can't seem to get the images to compress any lower than about 55KB - if i save as a JPEG (using GIMP) and then use an image optimiser such as http://www.imageoptimizer.net to compress it still gives me the same size file - any other programs that may help compress further?
Did you use JPEG with 50% compression in GIMP? That should do the trick. Or even 40%.
After that, you could also try http://punypng.com/

Thanks for your help folks - using 50% compression lost some granularity in the image quality and punnypng didn't reduce them in size any more than imageoptimizer.net. However having been to the customer site and checked it out on their machine i wasn't able to reproduce either so can only put it down to a 'one-off'!
Your images are in PNG format, which are larger than JPEG and mean they take more time to load on the web. We highly recommend that you convert them to JPEG and compress them.by using this jpeg compressor.
