Im having some issues with white lines that appear in the homepage slider in Google Chrome (works fine in firefox, opera and safari). This is the standard slider that ships with open cart.

This is a fresh installation of the latest version of Opencart via installatron.

I could not find any topics in the forums covering this so any suggestions or clues much appreciated as i can not work this out.

Please see attached image.

Its like the effect is not working correctly and leaving some of the image below exposed. It happens in Google Chrome on Macs.

This is an old issue really... its to do with the width of the slider and the number of slices. Basically, you need the slice number and the slide width to be able to divide to whole numbers. e.g. your slider is 944 pixels wide, and what I'm guessing is the default 10 slices, so 944 divided by 10 is 94.4 (so not exact)

I am having the same problem and changed my image size to 980 x 280 and it did not resolve it. I see the OP seems to have fixed his site and did not change his image size from 944 x 320. Just wondering what the issue ended up being for him. My quirk is that it is only with chrome on a particular desktop. It doesn't do it with chrome on a laptop. weird.

The opencart version is 1.5.1.3

It looks like the default is 8 slices, which would explain the white lines as 980/8=122.5. Where can I change the number of slices in the slideshow?

hi yu130960,

you can change (hardcode) the number of slices to use in the file
catalog/view/theme/default/template/module/slideshow.tpl
by replacing:

Code: Select all

$(document).ready(function() {
	$('#slideshow<?php echo $module; ?>').nivoSlider();
});
with:

Code: Select all

$(document).ready(function() {
	$('#slideshow<?php echo $module; ?>').nivoSlider({
		slices: 10
	});
});
hth,

ps.: you could, on the other side, take a look at my commercial module in my signature with which you could set this and many many more options from within your admin board. No coding required.

Tried it but the slideshow didn't work. Is there a typo?

SOLVED:

I gave up on slices and went with the fade effect which was listed in another thread. It resolved the white lines in an indirect way.
