Creating posts/pages

I would like to be able to create a post/page like the informatioin pages but I do not want the links to show up in the Information boxes but would like to have them show up in a new/unique box. How can I do this without much php skill?
I have seen the addon below for categories which I think can be used in the way I have mentioned. Just, I do not want it for categoires/products. Can someone confirm that if I make a new catergory and do not assign a product to it, it could be used like how I want?
