How to have all products on sale?

I'm using version 1.47 and I am wanting to be able to make a site wide sale for example 20% off for the month of November. My issue is I really don't want to have to manually add the special to over 800 products. What would it take for me to add some code to be able to do this for categories or all products from my admin. I would like to utilize the current specials feature like the date picker. Any help would be much appreciated.

You'd need to write the mod to insert data into the product_special table. It's not an easy task.

Have you looked at the Import/Export module. I haven't used that for over 2 years so I don't know if it has specials in it now. Have a look at it, as if it does have specials in it, try and do it that way. But like I say, I don't know the Import/Export module.
