Having a "sale" on an entire category of products

Hi all.
Is there an easy way or indeed any way to put an entire category of products with a special price?
For example. "lipsticks" rather than just 5 items etc?

I need the original price and special price to show across an entire category.
I advertise to encourage people to go to the "sale"..so carousels etc are useless as they only show a few products
I tried using the "specials" option but it doesnt work how I want it too..in fact it didnt even change the displayed price of the product lol, and doing them individually is a bit ridiculous really.
I have tried looking through the forum but havent found any answers.

So I have been trying to add the sale price to all the items individually using the "specials" option...but they dont show on the website, just the normal price shows. Im beginning to think wordpress and woocommerce is better than opencart..at least I could have a sale.

Hi, if things don't work with single discounts, there is something you don't do properly.
To set discounts to many products at time you need a commercial extension. One of them is my Pricelist Pro. You can check it in extension store.

I just clicked on the specials tab on the product and then entered the info and hit save...but it doesnt seem to do anything.
Thanks for the info about having to buy an extension :)

Try to set a starting date in the past. Also check if the discount is enabled for default customer group (or the group you are using).
