Hi there.

I'd like to create a directory /guide/ (much like /admin/) that isn't part of OpenCart, but adding the directory and putting some custom made files in there doesn't work - OpenCart thinks it belongs to it and it simply won't view my page.

How can I tell OpenCart to ignore a directory?

Either from host panel or from .htaccess. The most common solution is with .htaccess.

The most generated errors being found on Opencart forum originates from contributed programming. The increased post counters are caused by redundancies of the same solutions that were already provided prior.

I fixed the issue by adding a .htaccess in the directory I wanted to be ignored that contains just RewriteEngine Off

It's worth noting that I wanted to originally password protect the directory via the .htaccess, but doing so would interfere with OpenCart. I had to resort to a more internal PHP authentication solution.
