Hi,

I have looked this up in the forums and found quite a few references to this problem. The solution seems to be to "remove white spaces at between start tag and end tag of php." I also read this article http://www.opencartnews.com/tutorials/c ... olve-them/

I then checked the offending files for 'white space' but found none. The site http://www.specialeditionchocolate.co.uk still shows errors and I cannot login to admin. What else can I try?

The site is quite old and built with 1.4.9.? A new one is under construction already ;)

Thanks :)

empty spaces....

first. check the File-Permissions and make sure, the template DIRECTORY as well as its SUBDIRECTORIES and the files have chmod '755' and they have been locally saved/uploaded in the correct codepage format. (all type text files in ANSI/ASCII, packed rar/zip-files and images in Binary Mode)
you will find more infos about this, if you don't know, by clicking the link below and find the link to the everyauction.info page quoted. It may has nothing to do with it, but it's good to know in general for other readers.

Make sure to use a proper file editor like NOTEPAD++
http://notepad-plus-plus.org/
Never EVER use any WysiWyg-type thing - or an MS WORD-type Editor to handle php/tpl/txt-Files.

then make sure to save all modified php / tpl / css - files in ANSI as UTF8
and make sure the Editor CURSOR ends exactly after the last '>' , no further empty space or line (number) should exist, after saving, at the end of the file content. In no file. But be aware, that within certain file sections, b.Example .html or .js files, others too, there MAY BE some open spaces and lines at some places, they either don't matter or then have a certain reason to be placed this way. SO, leave 'em as they are, if you are not familiar with with..

if you have all this done and the script won't work, then you possibly modified something somewhere unknown.

Thank you very much Ernie,

This is the weird thing, all those permissions are fine, the sites work, then suddenly they don't. I contacted my host as well and now they are ok. They said they have reset the permissions. I have asked them what is going on as this shouldn't happen for no reason.

It has happened before and I have posted on another thread about it. http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=118826 I was more concerned about the 'Cannot modify header' errors and didn't consider the permissions.

I think I am on Linux, I use Plesk for my control panel. I use Filezilla for ftp and for editing I use TextWrangler. I edit relatively little as I am not a coder and tend to just follow instructions if I've been given or found them :)

For anyone else getting these types of errors it may be best to contact your host before doing anything with files and tearing any more hair out ;)

I'm not sure if this is helpful but I received this error a while back. There was an extra line break at the end of index.php or another file like header.php or header.tpl. Check these files, or any vqmod files that may edit these for excess white space.
