Opencart doesn't display my products...

I'm at a complete loss. I'm trying to build a store with open cart (1.4.3) after reviewing all the other platforms.

I can NOT get products I add to my store to show up at all in the store. They display fine in the admin, the products status are set to enabled. I've reinstalled the opencart from scratch twice with a brand new database and I still no product I add gets displayed. Everything seemed to be working fine until I activated a SSL certificate on my godaddy account.

Has anyone run into this? I'm going crazy here...

be sure your store url has the trailing /
