The default product filters module works wrongly?

I notice the default product filters module works wrongly. For example, i created following filters in the administrator panel:

1. Brand
-- HP
-- Sony

2. CPU Type
-- i3
-- i5

Then, i linked the filters to the product category and products as follows:

-- Linked above filters to Desktop category.
-- Linked Brand-HP and CPU Type - i3 to Product A.
-- Linked Brand-Sony and CPU Type - i5 to Product B.
-- Linked Brand-Sony and CPU Type - i3 to Product C.
-- Linked Brand-HP and CPU Type - i5 to Product d.

So, when i accessed the Desktop category in the store front, the calculation of products for separated filters should be:

1. Brand
-- HP(2)
-- Sony(2)

2. CPU Type
-- i3(2)
-- i5(2)

But, when checked the HP brand, the products counts for the i3 and i5 were wrong. It displayed as follow:

2. CPU Type
-- i3(2)
-- i5(2)

From my point of view, it's definitely wrong. It seems the Brand and CPU type weren't linked together. I think the correct calculation for the products should be:

2. CPU Type
-- i3(1)
-- i5(0)

Is there any solution for this module?

Thanks in advance!

I have implemented an advanced products filters module named iFilters for opencart to solve the problems.

With this iFilters module, your customers could really filter the products efficiently with the linked filters.

Watch the video at http://youtu.be/aOYTauWNYbY. Please select the high quality - 720P to watch the video.

[Features]

-- Link the filters in each filter group to filter the products.

Figure 3. The filters in each group are linked.

-- The products counts for each filter are updated automatically as any filter is checked.

Figure 4. Update the products counts automatically

-- It is unnecessary to click the Refine Search button to filter the products manually. When one filter is checked, the module will do that for you automatically.

-- It is possible to expand or collapse each filter group.
