Hello,

I have error as below on the product page at the store front:

Notice: Undefined index: category_id in
/public_html/vqmod/vqcache/vq2-catalog_controller_product_product.php on line 180
Notice: Undefined index: name in
/public_html/vqmod/vqcache/vq2-catalog_controller_product_product.php on line 216

It is weird that the error only exist in certain category of products. Strangely, not all product in those category have this error. And once I go save the problem product without changing anything in the admin page, then the error is gone. Yup, save the product without changing anything. This issue is quite hard to find, so I don't know when I start to have this.

I will be glad that if someone can help here.

Cheers!

that's probably coming from a vqmod you installed. when you resave a product presumably it's adding something to the database which wasn't there before. you should determine which vqmod is causing this and contact the dev. looks like sloppy coding to me.

Is there a way to find this error?

I have like 50 mods installed, and this error has like a 15 min lag before it shows up in the error log, thus it could take 50x 15 mins = up to 13 hours to find it, when using the process of elimination...

There must be an easier way to find the cause of errors, whenever I tell errors to developers, they find them in 2-3 mins usually.

Look at the lines in the file referenced by the error. search your vqmod xml files for that same code. whichever one contains it is most likely the culprit. probably.

Also, there should be no lag for errors in the log. Unless your host is doing some weird server side caching, those erros should show up instantly - and also would be viewable on the product page itself by viewing page source.
