Gmail - "reply-to" not working for contact form.

If you use the contact form on Opencart and then use Gmail as your main email provider, you will know that when you press reply to email, it will bring up your company's email address in the send to field, and not the 'reply-to' email address where you actually want to send it to. This can be seen in the details. This is most frustrating as you end up replying to yourself!

Google's forums state that if the sending address is the same as your outgoing address (which is likely and is in our case) then this will always override the 'reply-to' address and cannot be changed.

There's got to be a solution out there? Anyone with the same problem? Overcome this Gmail annoyance?

If you need a bed or mattress, send us an email and we'll try reply, and not to ourself! hah!

You could use your very own @domain and either the MAIL or SMTP so that it works the way one expects. You could try something like or a few others instead. You can Send if fully authorized, and then all goes as one would expect.

Mailservers have a vested interest in preventing mail relays that simply fly past them with no genuine account ties. That much is a good thing. Whether common sense aspects have been thought through often leaves one wondering.

Hi. We do use our own domain with such a set up through Gmail. I have it all authorised with more detail that you could expect (as our domain name is not favourable with spam filters so this needed doing).

Gmail's email services are irrevocably the best out there, especially for business's with many users like ours. The extra facilities in terms of Google Drive, Calender and Chat make it more than just email and's offering is poor in comparison (I was a user previously). I'm sure others would agree and will slowly migrate over to Gmail when the benefits are realised. Therefore, I need to find the solution to fix this small bug, yet potential to lose volumes of sales!

After overcoming filtering that disfavors the sending name, mailing out replies that come to yourself alone is perhaps the last but seemingly neither a "small bug" nor, as owing Google policy, even a "bug" as such. It would seem to be high price to pay for the benefits otherwise. If I stumble onto a solution, then I'll bring it back, but odds seem stacked against it.

You might look into how others who have the same inherent problem but actually are "adult" oriented have navigated that specific problem in order to send out reply mail successfully. Surely some of them can do that. A few private enquiries among ones in the UK might get you there.

You might mention to the developer of your shipping date module near the top that there are currently several folks looking for exactly that.
