Hi All

Slight unusual requirement.

We would like to be able to 'group' products together.
For example, imagine a clothes store, and they are doing a summer 2014 style release, they would want to group certain products together so they are part of the 'Summer 2014 Collection)

This is basically a duplicate of the manufacturers' module, where a product is marked against collection.
The only core difference is that a product can have more than one collection.

Does any know if there is a extension for this, or (at resonable cost) they could create this functionality.

I have thought about doing this via 'tagging' but we will need a landing page for each of the collection, so it didnt fit too perfectly

Love to hear thoughts and ideas

Matt

Create suitable categories and put the relevant products in the relevant ones?

A very viable option for sure, and something I had over looked a little!!
Would mean putting in some exception in the main menu (which lists all the categories, but nothing to major)

Ill explore that idea, but still open to a dedicated module also!

You can set a category to not appear in the main menu bar if that helps?

I did this by duplicating the manufacturer function and calling it themes. I posted about how I did it. Still working on getting multiple selections to work the way I want (it's buggy atm), but it works. See www.scifi-collector.com and you'll see what I mean. Shop by Show is using this cloned feature.

Hi Labeshops

Is the code for htat on GIT or somewhere.
Maybe we can work on it and iron out those bugs?

Hi TAC

Normally that would be perfect, however in the navigation I have two drop downs, one for the Cateogies and one for the Collections, however Im sure a unique mySQL call would be able to draw them out (esp if I make them all under a major category called collections and then on the collections drop down, just get the children etc)

No, I don't think I ever published the code. Unfortunately, I didn't document what I did, though did discuss it a little http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=92277 I basically followed a bunch of posts on how to duplicate a module and went from there.

I'd be happy to work on it with you and perhaps we can get it working 100% correctly. Everything works for me except for adding 1 product to 2 or more themes at once. Not sure what I need to do to make that work. My contact info is on my profile.
