v1.3.5 Soon

v1.3.5 is nearly finished.

The next release will have only a few new things and many bug fixes.

One of the big changes is a new admin interface. The interface I have done beats magento's hands down. I have been working on it for the past 2 months and that is the reason why there has been a long delay on the next release.

Hi Daniel,

We look forward to another exciting new and improved version of opencart. I hope you do fix/include some of the the things below that I feel Opencart misses and it really should be there in a shopping cart website:

1. Paypal issues with orders missing. I have tried the solution provided in the forum but it doesn't work for me yet!
2. Post code compulsary
3. Shipping and payment option on the same page for registered users, just like guest checkout..
4. Improved Order email and also take care of foreign characters like ö ä å etc.
5. Meta descriptions increased to atleast 255 chars.
6. Create an account option at the end of guest checkout on the success page.
7. More promotions e.g.
- Buy x, get y free
- Buy x, get percent discount
- Buy x, get fixed amount discount.
8. Send Wishlist to a Friend by Email or RSS
9. Option for customer to just submit email to subscribe to Newsletters
10. Customer Personalized Products e.g. Upload text for embroidery, monogramming etc
11. Product listing in grid or list format (may be a link on the website where users can choose how they would like to view the website).
12. More reports like Tax Report, Low stock report etc.
13. Option to have categories in a drop down menu on top or as a categories box as a sidebox.

As always, your work is very appreciated and would like to thank you a million for this fantistic product.

Kind regards,
Vimal.

I think vimal is asking for too much. They are all good ideas, maybe except RSS feed for wishlist :), but for 1.3.5 is too many things. They all can happen in later versions.

you alwways get people just coming up with lists and just posting them.

I think we need to start polling which features people want adding.

Daniel,

This sound great!
I rather have bugs fixed then new features with more buges (like PrestaShop).

A "new" Admin interface? Can't wait to see it (and I even liked the current one).

Do not let yourself get rushed into releasing a new version, just take your time so we all benefit from your hard work even better.

I agree with you, a poll would be the best way of finding out what we all want to be done first.

Thank you for your hard work!

Sorry..I was a little too greedy and got carried away thinking of things that would be good to have :)

The reason I added those points was because I guess, Daniel compares opencart with magento a little bit. And all of the things I mentioned are present in magento.

I do agree that fixing bugs is better than adding new features however, I thought opencart 1.3.4 was almost perfect and Daniel got it right except for very minor things here and there and hence felt 1.3.5 could be a release with newer features..

Bug fixes are important at this stage before adding new features.

I would like to see the mail.php bug to be fixed.

Daniel, will the OpenCart 1.3.4 contributions work with the upcoming 1.3.5 release? Or will there be changes in the database?

I wouldn't really compare opencart to magento. About the only thing they really have in common is the mvc structure (somewhat I guess some people at magento claims it has some sort of structure) and actually there are a couple of things on the list that not even magento has.

Awesome, very glad to hear 1.3.5 is on the way!

By "soon" do you mean "in the next week or two" or "in the next month or two"?

Please interpret this as excitement and less of pushiness.

Is Daniel building this thing all by himself?
