Yes, but what we need is a stable version for production use. The 1.5.1.3 has too many bugs, while most of them have been fixed in the SVN, I am unable to extract them for a pure 1.5.1.3 bugfix release. And the upcoming 1.5.2 release will have some significant changes, including the admin order edit, changes in the database, the way products are added to the cart (using a new catalog/controller/cart/cart.php to come?), just to name a few.

I was hoping to just comment out the admin order edit and then use it as a bugfix release for 1.5.1.3, but this won't work. Now I'll have to do my own bugfixes for 1.5.1.3 and collect them all in VQmod XML files.

the cart/cart thing is required. there is to much going on on the cart page it needs a sperate folder. i did not like it either but its that or a massive controller cart class.

i'm in the process now of altering everything so it it has a json type api.

you can add a prdouct to compare, wish list, cart and also remove them using json.

same goes for coupon, vouchers, reward points, shipping.

its all so the order editor can be integrated.

maybe even be able to have an external system to do all the work.

To do it right, we need to change our methodology from our current way.
I would like to do that after the release of 1.5.2 and have discussed this with daniel. He agrees.
The way I described is the only way to do it right and it requires some change in discipline.

This Q & A sums up the 2 methods:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1261 ... -the-trunk

We currently use the "unstable trunk" method. We need to switch to the "stable trunk" method to make SVN have the latest stable code. More details on the process:
http://blog.evanweaver.com/2007/08/15/s ... -practice/

Then the latest svn can always have the latest working fixes, and I am looking into an "SVN-to-PHP" script that will be able to pull directly from SVN right to your cart with a simple click of a button the admin area. Then upgrades will be a breeze and bug fixes can be acquired instantly, and we can stop having dozens of repeat bug reports.

Then we can use branches/tags for full releases of new features, and the latest trunk will have the latest bug fixes for the most recent version.

I downloaded 1.5.2 from the svn. Are we not suppose to do that?

The add to cart function is not working. And I'm getting errors from:

NO! The SVN is work in progress, with some unfinished new features and changes.

Hey, Daniel pointed me there for issues I was having problems with tax, header, etc.

And i wanted a jump to test the order mod to see if I should write my own or wait.

So I guess the svn is just for progress tracking?

Hi guys,

I try to make a module for Oc 1.5.1.3 and I need to get the tax rate (the percentage, not the actual amount) in a field during the checkout.
I'm not the best in PHP so I cannot figure it out......

In OC 1.4 it was easy done like this :

Code: Select all

$this->tax->getRate($product['tax_class_id'])
but now with the 1.5 version I cannot figure out how to do it.

I know

Code: Select all

$this->tax->getTax($product['total'], $product['tax_class_id'])
will return the amounts , and

Code: Select all

$product['tax_class_id']
will return the class ID of course.....

But how do i get the percentage value itself....like for example 20 if the rate is 20%

Thanks in advance :)

never mind.....
After 2 days of studying the code I realized it was not so easy to get the percentage numbers because OC 1.5.1.3 either calculates the percentage value of the price, or leaves it as a fixed number.

I wanted this percentage number to be used only for the module and not to affect the whole system, so I had to Vqmod some extra code to the tax.php file and now everything is good and my module is working very well.

My first module ::)
