Well, after looking at this Place today, I assume, it does not need anyone else, trying to kill the OpenCart Project,
if OC keeps on, screwing up this Forum, as it looks. I am unable, to find anything anymore, everything seems to be
different, in the worst possible way. I guess, it's best, to take a timeout, it's of very little use, trying to handle this place
momentarely.

I'm not visiting these forums anymore until this shit-template has been cleared up or removed.

It is unreadable for me as everything is out of proportion.

This whole layout is a major fuck-up and it has been going on form months now.

What a way of killing your forums.

Hello guys,

We derived much of our interest towards OpenCart as a platform from the forum, so I also believe that it should be top notch. This is essentially the heart of the community so we will take our time to go through all flaws and have them fixed. Already working on a list.

Why the fuck this forum doesn't have the latest phpBB which is responsive and modern? Its default theme will be fine.

Agree with i2paq - not a fan of this layout, it makes the resource very hard to use.
Something much more compact would be better

Same here. New theme is plain awful, previous was way better. I almost stopped visiting forums since theme was replaced.

I would go further and asked, why phpBB even here? There're plenty forum engines, which are indefinitely superior. IPS Community Suite (former IP Board) is THE best one, never seen anything better in all my 20 years of being an Internet user.

You must have a massive list by now... ;)

Now seriously, how hard is it to change the font size of the quoted text ? I'm guessing 30 seconds, maybe 40 seconds???

Not much point in making a list if in six (6) months we are still looking like a forum designed specifically for people with visual impediments...

Not picking on you, but is not funny any more!

Hi Guys,

Just to let you know some scumbag has registered the name OpenCart ltd in the UK. I believe this is an attempt to export money out of opencart at some point. or try to steal the business!

His name is Botonakis Konstantinos

Hes also running this web site:

http://www.opencartgreece.gr

I have removed this guy as a seller and partner.

[...]
Oye Daniel! Have a look here:

https://eshop.opencartgreece.gr/opencart-3.0.2.0-en

The dude is still going strong. He offers the OpenCart software as a download on his website and claims that it is made by OpenCart Greece ("Brand: OpenCart Greece").

Moreover, at the website's footer it is stated that "We are here from 2011. OpenCart Greece - © Content published inside this website (www.opencartgreece.gr) is creation and copyrighted to our company. Shares or replications should be done after our written consent. OpenCart Greece (Custom Service Limited) is not related in any way with OpenCart Cloud LTD or OpenCart.com. OpenCart is an 100% open source software that you can download and use."

On one hand, he states that OpenCart is 100% open source software and on the other, he states that anything published on his website is his creation and copyrighted to his company... the OpenCart software is published on his website and offered as a download, plus he states - like I said before - that it is made by OpenCart Greece ("Brand: OpenCart Greece").

Well, he's only one, out of a whole Army, each one trying, to get a piece of the OC Cake.
But there is just no way, now trying to fight back on, what OC initiated in the first place,
after declaring it to be Open Source Software, and not investing giant amounts of
money, to secure OpenCart worldwide as 'exclusively owned' Brandname, many many
Moon's ago already, as an old Apache Chief would probably say ... O0

Still, it's a rather informative Site as well, or greek users at least:
http://wiki.botonakis.com/
Meaning, that they also invested a lot of time, and not just tried to re-sell (copied) Mods.
But I don't assume, that they sell very many Installations, 1350 Euro is a lot of Bread today
in Greece, many don't even make that much per month...

And they also show, who and where they are, in contrary to a vast majority of
others, mostly hiding behind gmx-trees and gmail-bushes, for what reason ever.
So, what's the Difference ?! :D And not a single Neighbor Country OC-Seller is
affected, due to a weird old language, noone else can understand

only joking ... ;)

The company mainly operates in the UK where its head offices are.

Well... I am not a lawyer (I only play one on a hit TV show), but that statement could be read as only covering the website itself (promotional and discussion material), and not the OC software they're selling. Unless the OC product has been so heavily modified that it is unrecognizable as being the open source product, I don't think they can claim copyright on that. Anyway, they're stating that it is more or less the free OC product, which they are entitled to sell (but not claim copyright on the whole thing).

Long story short, are they really claiming copyright over OpenCart itself, or just the website showcasing it?

They say that all content that is published on the website is their creation and copyrighted to them, and they have this page

https://eshop.opencartgreece.gr/opencart-3.0.2.0-en

where it says that OPENCART VERSION 3.0.2.0 is made by them, because they state that "Brand: OpenCart Greece".

Illegal or not, I don't know. Highly unethical for sure.

Well, exept for my own opencart.li url, at least 8 of the below listed URL's
belong to officially declared OpenCart Partners, and some of those Sites
look very very similar to the official OC Site. And many more exist. But OC
did not seem to have a problem with this so far, so, what's the Noise ?
--
But even China moved up to the leading Moneymakers, by use of unethical
Copyright + Patentright behaviour, and with the Money of unethical Investors,
and since then, ethic is no longer of relevance, if generating income is part of it.
---
But like it or not, it will not change a thing. Especially not, when it comes to OC,
since this place is full of unethical Behaviour and hidden Subjects, trying to get
their share and make some money, out of stolen Wisdom, wherever applicable.

Just don't take it personal, there is nothing, fine Fellows can do about. Exept for
frequently coming here, to assist others, to so at least try, to give something back
to the OC Community. Whatever this means, in a Forum of competitive Sellers,
sure not coming here, to look for new friends ... 8)
Good Luck! ;)
