I want to co-operate with several search engines for online shops.
I have Open cart v. 3.0.3.7

These search engines require from me to have "An .xml file with my products, images, prices etc."

I would like to ask:
1)Is this .xml file already generated by default or I have to create it somehow?
2)Can this .xml file be renewed automatically for all or selected products? Or I have to edit it manually?

I have no problem editing the .xml file, as long as you can guide me a bit of the overall layout.

Thanks again.

If they accept the same format as Google Shopping you may be able to use Extensions -> Extensions -> Feeds -> Google Base.

If not you will need to ask them the format they want and hope there is an extension to generate one or write your own.

Ok thanks for the help! I installed it.

So now the .xml is accessible through this link:
https://gwshop.gr/index.php?route=exten ... oogle_base

Questions:
1) Greek fonts appear broken. Any fix for this?
2) Can I add categories and products through Opencart backend or shall I edit the file manually?
3) Also where is the file location?

Thank you.

1) That's just the way you browser displays it. Download the file to check it.
2) You have to set it up in the module settings.
3) There is no file, it's a feed. Data Feed Url is the location.
3) You will need to set it up.

The question is "How" ? I have no idea what I should do here!

1) How can I download this file?
2) In Module settings, in Google Category I type for example "Hardware" and I also choose the "Hardware" category but nothing changes in the feed or in the backend.
3) In "1" you said "Download the file".
4) *How* do I set it up? There isn't a proper documentation anywhere and no examples?

Can someone be totally specific here so that I understand what I am doing?

To check the feed. Go to the URL in Data Feed Url. In Chrome right click and Save as. Inspect the file in a text editor.

Usually you just need give the Data Feed Url to the Google Merchant Center.

Have you followed the instructions , at the top of the page.

Code: Select all

To download the latest Google category list by clicking here and choose taxonomy with numeric IDs in Plain Text (.txt) file. Upload via the green import button.
Once you done that, set a Google Category and you store category then click the + button. Then Save.

1) I can't undestand anything about what to do on the console.
download/file.php?mode=view&id=41359

2) I downloaded Google's excel with categories and codes , I want to sell video games and I still can't understand what I have to do.
download/file.php?mode=view&id=41360

Can someone send a file here just for a working example?

1) You need to do "Save as" not Inspect. Once you have downloaded it locally to your computer. Open it in a text editor and inspect the contents.

2) As the instruction say you need to download the "Plain text (.txt)" version. You may need to "Save as". Once you have that. In the OpenCart Google Base module, click green import button in the top right. Select the "taxonomy-with-ids.xx-xx.txt" file you just downloaded.

Ok I have download the text with "Save As" to edit it. I also saw the Green Import button at the top right corner.

Can someone give me an example of a .txt file just to understand how it works?

You don't need to make any changes to the file just upload it as it is.
