Hey I was wondering if you guys could help me out with the following.

I'm running the OpenCart 3.0.2.0, upgraded from 1.5.6.4 but I would like to reinstall my OpenCart, so I get rid of all the old files and modules that Ì don't need anymore ( and might cause problems)

If I backup my database, my images, my theme. Would this be as simple as
- backup db, theme db and files on server.
- Deleting the files
- Install OpenCart
- Importing the db on the fresh install,
- Install theme
- Importing the theme file.
- Putting back the image files
- Re-configuring the remaining extensions ?

Or am i missing something and am I in for a world of hurt :)

The db obviously will have redundant fields, not sure if that will cause problems ?
Starting with a clean db and somehow importing all relevant data sounds a lot more dangerous ( users, products, sales, downloads etc ...) or are there handy (failsafe) tools available for a task like this ?

Thanks for your help!

- backup db,
Yes
theme
Not without the latest compatibility version for the theme you're using or without extensive coding.
db and files on server.
Yes
- Deleting the files
Install a fresh copy.
- Install OpenCart
Yes
- Importing the db on the fresh install,
Not without ether running the upgrade script or, if the upgrade fails, to manually define the missing fields on PHPMyAdmin by using a comparing tool between two SQL files from the install folder.
- Install theme
New / recent themes, yes.
- Importing the theme file.
In a way, this is a redundant question.
- Putting back the image files
If the imported images are already among the database, there will be a goal to this.
- Re-configuring the remaining extensions ?
No. Required recent compatible versions or not without manually modify the codes.

However, you can take a look at this extension: https://www.opencart.com/index.php?rout ... n_id=26924

Thanks for your feedback!
So if I understand correctly I could delete all the files off the server and still run the upgrade script, just pointing it to the right db?
(I was under the presumption it would need an install version of OpenCart (including files)
The theme already runs on my current 3.0.2.0 installation. (Journal2) and doesnt really need changes atm. The import and export function in that seems to work fine )

Of course i would need latest and compatible versions of to be installed extensions

cheers

I don't know why I keep getting these redundant replies as a question per users every time these sorts of topic questions are created. There are nowhere to be said about deleting all the files on my above statement.

Please re-read each and entire statement I indicated above.

I was talking about a clean install on the same server / dir, because just running the upgrade wouldn't get rid of all the extra files
anyway, sorry for the misunderstanding and thanks for the help.
