I am using Square 3.1.9 extension for payment processing with OpenCart Version 3.0.3.2.  It recently went inactive with an error showing "Square Access Token Expired" in the extension manager screen.  I received no indication the payment processing was down, nothing in the dashboard or no email from the system.  Due to the same issue I encountered a few weeks ago I now regularly go into the extension to make sure it is connected. But this type of issue will drive me crazy over time, not knowing if my payment system is up or down.

The system log showed:  2020-02-14 11:57:09 - The provided OAuth access token has expired. You must renew the access token via the Renew Access Token endpoint.
What could be the issue here and is there any extensions or setting to help with these types of errors?  

I have already opened a ticket with iSenseLabs but I thought I would ask the community as well.

That's why I posted this to the extensions area. But would you have any suggestions on what might be a better extension?

I don't know....I don't use Square.

Try to contact iSenseLabs or contact Square support...maybe is an issue with your account settings.

So here is the answer. What I found out from the application developer is this is normal. Once a month the token expires and you need to go into the extension and manually refresh it. Under advanced settings there is a field labeled Access Token Expires and it shows a date when the token expires. If you don't refresh it the extension fails processing without notice. I have asked the developer if he intends to somehow integrate a notification into OpenCart to the admin so this is not a manual effort.
