I have a client with an OpenCart 2.3.0.1 site and he is getting an error trying to install extensions. FTP is enabled but the error is

URL.DOMAIN.com says
SyntaxError: Unexpected token < in JSON at position 0
OK
<b>Warning</b>: ftp_login(): Please reconnect using TLS security
mechanisms, in <b>/home/USER/public_html/FOLDER/admin/
controller/extension/install.php</b> on line <b>293</
b>{"error":"Could not login as USER@DOMAIN.com"}

The line 293 of the of the installer.php file was set to ftp_ssl_login from ftp_login

$login = ftp_ssl_login($connection, $this->config->get('config_ftp_username'), $this->config->get('config_ftp_password'));

Still getting the error. Any thoughts?

Have you tried replacing the ftp_connect with ftp_ssl_connect? Is there any such function as ftp_ssl_login? You may also need to refresh your modifications cache.

You are correct! I was adding the _ssl_ in the wrong place!
