I asked elsewhere about layouts but nobdy replied.
my question is really simple my landing page looks like it has some navigation... a search module...
some featured products and information and the site uses the default layout but that jayout looks nothing like this...

so my question is where is that home page built????

Go to Design - Layout and open the home layout. There you can add/remove modules for the home page. Same for the other page types.

i kind of understand the module addition etc and positions

but ....

see the top section in this image... i guess the logo comes from the logo image setting config bit...
however
where is the top bar configured?
where is the cart bit configured?
where is the search configured?
where is the menu configured?

i kind of get the categories section building the navigation... however does checking mean it will appear in top menu... where does it appear if you dont check the top option?
