Hi there

Two customers have informed me that they were unable to leave a review on my website. After entering all the relevant information, they go through the Secure Captcha and pick the correct images and when they click to send the review they get this warning sign...

warning verification code does not match the image

I have tried it myself and still the same. I am using version 2.0.3.1 and website is www.little-you.co.uk

I have looked around and seen other people mention this problem, but never seen it resolved.

PLEASE can someone out there help me on this as I don't really want to remove Captcha from my reviews if I can help it.

Thank you
Jackie

I tested this with your opencart version on localhost.
This issue is not present by default.

Also on your site when form is submitted google re captcha is not sent to backend.
So it always says in valid.
Review form must have been altered.

Please check if there is any code alteration happening at product page. Try disabling those extensions.

Hi imdevlper18

I have disable extensions that are to do with products and it's still not working after disabling them.

You said look in the coding...what am I looking for in the coding and where would I find it?

Sorry for not understanding...

I'm using version 2.0.3.1

Can you switch once to default theme. Quickly test it and let me know the status.

Hi there
I tried what you suggested and my website just went to a blank white page on the default theme for some reason, so I couldn't try that unfortunately.

I'm at a loss at what else to do.
Sorry to be a pain.

What does it indicate in your admin - > systems - > tools - > error logs page?

The most generated errors being found on Opencart forum originates from contributed programming. The increased post counters are caused by redundancies of the same solutions that were already provided prior.

Hi there
Thanks for your reply

I cleared the error logs and went to put a review on my site and went back to check it and this is what appears in the log

2016-06-22 18:07:08 - 500
2016-06-22 18:07:08 - 500
2016-06-22 18:07:08 - 4000
2016-06-22 18:07:08 - 400

Does that look familiar?

Thanks

The browser is omitting the error 500 that describes an internal server error message. Do you use the basic captcha or the Google Captcha? If basic, try with the Google Captcha and see if the error persists.

I have the Google Captcha set up with the site key and secret key already input and I have it enabled too....so I'm guessing the site is using that anyway...

Is your TLS certificate working properly on your site? It's possible that Google API may decline your connection due to changes on your TLS protocol. Another possibility is the content function that connects to Google from your site may not capture the schema as it should. One way to find out on Google's end would be by creating new API credentials (site key and secret key) and see if the problem persists with the new credentials you could set from the opencart admin.

If so, see by switching to Captcha basic if the problem persists.

Yes My certificate is working fine.
Am I allowed to create new API Credentials? wouldn't that mess with anything on my site?

I don't know where to find the basic Captcha in the admin area...do you know where it is?
I only know where the Google one is.

Admin - > Extensions - > Captcha - > Disabled on Google Captcha. Install the Basic Captcha and enable it. Then, try the captcha form again on your review page.

I'm using version 2.0.3.1 and I can't find Google or Basic Captcha listed in the admin panel under Extensions.
I also can't see any captcha.php file anywhere in my files....would that be the reason?

Also, you mentioned API, which I have to admit, I don't know much about, but when I looked in my Admin Panel under - System/Users/API There was no actual username or password, it just showed it like this...

* Username [[api_username]]

* Password [[api_password]]

For older versions of Opencart, you need to go to your admin - > systems - > settings - > edit store. Then, enter your public key and secret key from Google.

Oh I see Ok....well all that is in there and enabled, so I really don't know what else to do now.
Reviews are so important on a website, just wish I could sort it out, it's very frustrating.
Thank you for all your help, it's much appreciated.

Since the old captcha methodology is no longer applied on the latest version of Opencart, I would suggest to upgrade to the latest version.
