Hi,
I am trying to figure out, how to set up the product quantity if the product have color options available (mandatory)
Lets say I have 20 TVs in stock, 10 is white, 10 is black
when creating product, in the "edit" tab, we have to fill in the quantity of the product. should i put 20 here ?? or 10? or 0?
now in the option tab, Black color = 10 ? and white color = 10?
Iam using opencart version 2.1.0.1

Yes.
Although I set the main product to 999 (i don't display stock figures just in/out) and then I know it is a product with options, i also set the 'Subract stock' for the main product to No. Set subtract stock for the options to Yes.

Thanks for the reply. Noted!
but I think there is an implication. I used journal theme, and it can show "out of stock" banner on the product (product grid). and the banner only shows if main product stock is 0. Tried to change all the option stock to zero but it wont trigger the banner to show
Maybe i should contact journal theme for ticket support..

Or if I fill total number of all the available option and subtract main stock. in my example case is 20.
and put 10 for white and 10 for black option, also subtract stock. it will trigger the out of stock banner if all 20 are sold...

I had a similar problem where I am selling apparel but I needed a quantity selection for each available size.
I found a Multiple Product Quantity With Options module and it works very well...

I got 20 item total in stock so I set the data/quantity 20 data/subtract stock = yes
Then Option colour Quantity 10 Subtract stock = yes
When you sell that item in that colour, OC will subtract the correct quantity select from your total in stock.
Now if the option is not relevant to the total quantity then in Option subtract stock = no
I don't understand the need to change the main product quantity to 999. Why would you want to do that? How do you then keep track of your stock quantity? OpenCart doesn't remove your stock twice just because you select yes in both data and Option.
My understanding of OC is, that the Total in stock subtract quantity Yes/no is there for items such a software of files download, while Option stock yes/no is for things such as gift wrap or anything that would not interfere with your stock quantity
Am I missing something?
