Hey guys,

First things first, I'm not a computer wiz so please bear with me.

I'm having some problems with the layout when using IE. When I'm using Chrome everything seems fine.
My front page looks alright with all browsers.
The problem occurs when you navigate through the menu then click on a product.
At this point it all looks weird.
The really weird part for me is if you click on a product from the front page through the featured products, the product looks like its supposed to..

Anyway I hope someone can lend me a hand here.
My site http://www.barnochvagn.se
Here is the problem while using IE http://barnochvagn.se/Sittvagnar/BabyAc ... Brun-Beige

I'm running 2.0.1.1

All help is welcomed.

If you run an HTML validator you will see the first error message will be
Non-space characters found without seeing a doctype first. Expected <!DOCTYPE html>
Simply put there are some spaces in front of your <!DOCTYPE> declaration. This may cause a problem in IE.

Probably not visible in a text editor but clearly visible in an IDE like Netbeans or Eclipse.

To correct, delete first line in your

catalog\view\theme\default\template\common\header.tpl

and carefully put in <!DOCTYPE html> with no spaces and save in an editor like Notepad++

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately it did not help. Still the same.

The error i'm getting is this

Script5009

Code: Select all

$('select[name=\'recurring_id\'], input[name="quantity"]').change(function(){
	$.ajax({
		url: 'index.php?route=product/product/getRecurringDescription',
		type: 'post',
		data: $('input[name=\'product_id\'], input[name=\'quantity\'], select[name=\'recurring_id\']'),
		dataType: 'json',
		beforeSend: function() {
			$('#recurring-description').html('');
		},
		success: function(json) {
			$('.alert, .text-danger').remove();

			if (json['success']) {
				$('#recurring-description').html(json['success']);
			}
		}
	});
});

Anyone got an idea ?

First things first, have you tried correcting your header file. As far as I can see it still has the same fault.

<!DOCTYPE html> MUST be the first thing on the page - no spaces no carriage returns.

Go to

catalog\view\theme\default\template\common\header.tpl

I did what you asked in your first post.

The first line is <!DOCTYPE html> and nothing else.

your css is a bit messed up too on wishlist and compare buttons in category
i also notice the cart icon appears after KOP on similar products displayed at bottom of product page but before KOP in categories
i would check your css against original and confirm changes
incase you made any unwanted change

also the product display is only messed up when you click a category first

Personally, i would update to 2.0.3.1 before spending more time, as as it looks now, would not take much to update

You still have a white-space before doctype problem see

https://validator.w3.org/check?verbose= ... Brun-Beige

If you are certain that there are no spaces before the doctype in your header template I suspect that your language files MAY be the culprit - however:

PHP automatically truncates one newline character after the closing ?> tag in include files. If you have more than one they will be interpreted as blank space before your doctype declaration.

Easiest fix? Remove the closing tag ?> from all of your include files. This is a valid technique, and could be the fastest way for you to get up and running in IE.
