rich formatting now showing in product descriptions

Hi all,
I am new to opencart. When i try adding a product i insert formatting and even pictures in the description and it even shows in the editor when adding the products. But when the product is added, it doesnt show any formatting at all. All image links are shown broken and even the text that was bold etc is no longer shown.
