New Customers can't log in since upgrade

Hi All

I have upgraded to the latest version of opencart and have found that anyone who has registered since the upgrade cannot log in.. all the users who have previously registered can log in ok. And as an admin i can log into the new users accounts via the admin panel.

However when i try in log in using a new users email address and password from the front end it says that the user and pass cannot be found

anyone have any ideas?

I would really appreciate any help

Hi

Im getting a little desperate with this now... i have no idea what to do.... can anyone help me?

I have found others on older versions who had the same problem but still havent seen a solution anywhere :-/

I would appreciate any help

Let's start with simple: in admin panel doublecheck whether approval was reset by default to required, if so then reset it there and try anew.

It is set to required but we have approved all the new customers and still they cant log in

any other ideas?

Still, at an hour when nobody in his right mind will be buying anything or registering, shut off approval and save and log out and kill cookies, go back in to make a registrant and save and log out and kill cookies, then try to log in as the registrant. If you can do that from three machines at three ip addresses, then so much the better. It may be worth looking down the column in their roster to ensure that approvals took.

Thanks again for your reply.. i made the decision to restore the server to a point the day before i did the upgrade to allow me more time to solve any problems on the upgrade.. we had a few people call us today complaining that they couldnt log in... and there were a few other issues starting to appear too so i took the decision to restore.. however i will have to do the upgrade in the next week or so and will likely come across this fault again so i will use the advice you have given then

If only these things were more simple !

Enjoy. You may want to set up a parallel rather than replacement installation so that you can test the new one without having to resurrect the predecessor. You could even set up two, one for upgrade, one for clean install, then putter with them for a few hours or days. Just remember that config files will need to show their own nests.
