Hi all, I am a newbie, but trying to get to grips with OpenCart.
My shop url is http://17d-miniatures.co.uk/store
The only problem I am having is something I have read elswhere on the Forum, but can't seem to find a definitive solution, so appologies for asking again.
Using V 1.5.4
SSL cert installed (not shared)
Config settings changed from http to https in both configs
SSL switched on in admin
OK, all appears fine until I go to checkout, when I get this simple pop-up "error" message, mentioned by others on the forum. (It also appears in certain parts of Admin)
After a lot of reading posts, and talking to my host (Servage) it seems like the problem is that their server configuration does not recognise: server['HTTPS'] in the controller/common/header.php files.
The nice people at servage have always been helpful to me, but on this one, I am not getting any pointers from them as to what to do instead. "Go ask OpenCart" is basically the message!
So surely, there is a (simple?) solution?
At this time I have reverted to running all areas as https (via config files) which does at least work, but seems plain wrong
Hope someone can help!

Where in the checkout process are you getting the error? I can go on your checkout page and SSL is working the way it should, but I didn't go through all of the steps.

Thanks for checking, DL
At the moment, as the site is live, I have had to set https, on both config files, for all areas, so the site works like that, but I would prefer https to work correctly for secure areas only.
The error appears when you actually click checkout button and page loads. Then the various steps do not work.
See this post http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?t=85466#p346086for a screenshot identical to my problem. (Actual problem manifests itself in slightly different ways depending on browser - this is Firefox - but root cause points to insecure content). I have already checked my own image and link urls, they all seem fine.
When ssl is set just for secure areas according to normal procedure, the base href does not change, so insecure content appears to be the cause. I think I have traced it to my host not recognising the variable "server['HTTPS']" in the controller/common/header.php files.
So I need a different way for to detect when https is supposed to be being served.
Hope that makes sense!

I got to step 4 and can't get any further because there is no shipping option available. https works perfectly on every other page with no issues.

Hi, and thanks for taking the trouble to try and help.
With respect, I believe I know what the problem is - as I said in my first post. What I am hoping for is a solution, so that I can use OpenCart as it is meant to be used with SSL.
Re. the Shipping Options, cwswebdesign, would I be right in guessing you are not in the UK? If I'm right, thats because we don't ship outsides the UK via this site, so no shipping options outside UK are available.

That's because I have had to set all pages to use the ssl setting (via the two config files) rather than just the normal secure areas, so that my site works. It is a live site.cwswebdesign wrote:I got to step 4 and can't get any further because there is no shipping option available. Https works perfectly on every other page with no issues.
