I'm on the hunt....

Does anyone know of.... or have... a module that can do this:
Each product has unique shipping by geo zone.

So: Book 1
Ship to US: $5
Ship to all-other-countries: $15.

But, say, Book 2 would be slightly different. And book 3, etc.

I'm transitioning from BigCartel and they have an interface like this that works well for my kinds of products, see picture:

Any ideas? I've tried out multiple-flat-rate and restrict-shipping-by-product.

I wonder if other folks have a similar need? Any ideas would be great!

I have a very similar requirement, and am tearing my hair out searching for a solution. I have to be honest, I might need to consider migrating away from OpenCart for this very reason, which would be a shame.

I pass on the costs of shipping from my supplier to my customer.
Problem is different suppliers have different shipping costs for each item - there's no rhyme or reason to it (like weight, or something useful).

At the moment it's not been a problem, as I absorbed the shipping cost into each item directly, then promoted FREE shipping across the site. Thing is, this only works for UK only.

Now I'm getting requests to ship throughout Europe and beyond, and I can't find a solution.

For example:
Product A from supplier A, UK £3.95, Europe £18, US £30
Product B from supplier A, UK £4.25, Europe £19.50, US £32
Product C from supplier B, UK £8.99, Europe £14, US £20

The closest I thought I came to a solution was to use weight based shipping, then assign a different weight value, depending on product and supplier, to equal the actual cost.

For example:
1kg = Supplier A Product A, and set all prices accordingly for each GeoZone
3kg = Supplier B Product C, etc

Problem comes when a customer adds 2 items from different suppliers, as it totals up the weight. In the example above it would total to 4kg, and I might have 4kg set to supplier C, and a much lower cost.

If I can get it to add the total shipping cost for each product, rather than adding the weight, then I could work with it.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

There's Q's Shipping by Product, but that doesn't support multiple Geo Zones. He might consider adding it in when he updates it for 1.5.x if you ask him nicely. :)

If he won't, let me know, and I'll create a shipping extension that does this.

Sounds good.

Qphoria - any idea how long until it's available? I see you've discontinued the old version, and state the new version may be around a week, is that accurate?

Also if you need any testing, am more than happy to do that. I'm having to change a number of my suppliers, so may need to take my site into maintenance for a few days whilst I re-arrange and re-vamp it, would be a perfect opportunity to test it for you.

Thanks

Any update on this?
I think this would solve the shipping needs for a client site I'm working on.

Yes. I think this shipping module will be the best way to estimate shipping costs since i have really small products to extremely large oversized products.

My two main projects right now are Paypal Express and Shipping By Product. They were both delayed by Options Boost, but that is done now so this is the current hot project
