Goldsploit, Joomla is not a shopping cart... do you have a Joomla shopping cart plug-in like VirtueMart, and want to convert it all to OpenCart? Or do you want to add an OpenCart plug-in like JooCart to Joomla?

Please tell us what you mean so we can help.

Merry

Hi,

I realise this thread is old but a prospective client showed me this and had questions so I provided help and thought others might benefit from it.

RE: how to migrate database from joomla to opencart

If you do have a shopping cart on Joomla already you need to use a migration tool in order to migrate from Joomla to Opencart. If you do have a store you likely have virtuemart or something custom using another extension.

We at Weismann Web have custom tools to do this but we sometimes use services like cart to cart.

If you do NOT have a store and you want to move from cms to cms THEN add a new store to Opencart after the CMS is moved that can be done too and the same company has a CMS2CMS migration service but Opencart does not have a very usable CMS. It just has info pages so most clients pair it with Wordpress or some other CMS.

Usually 9 times out of 10 those migration services are not enough and often have not so great support for non technical people. That being said I have a lot of clients that did it on their own.

I have answered this question in a little more detail here: https://www.weismannweb.com/question/ho ... -opencart/

Good luck!

I suppose you were talking about building an eCommerce store on Joomla, and still want to transfer data from Joomla to OpenCart? Joomla has its own eCommerce plugins to help you create online stores. But if transferring data is exactly you want, look no further but our data migration packages.

There's bound to be a Virtuemart import/export extension. Export from Joomla/Virtuemart to an Excel file, adjust the fields/columms and import to Opencart using an import/export extension from the marketplace.
