Translation files

Hello, I would like to translate opencart, however I woudl like to confirm something before I start.
I have downloaded the folders admin and catalog. Inside there is subfolder english and then the subfolders with the php files. There is also is file default.php below the subfolders

Are those the correct folders to translate, as from what I saw that file is named english.php everywhere else on the internet ?

you are here in the OpenCart 2.x branch discussion.
So, if you are not translating the language into a very rare language, your intention is useless because OpenCart is already translated into all major languages.

Beside this, since OpenCart 2.2.x the English language folder is en-gb, english was before.
So all languages from 2.2.x on should be in this way: xx-yy (e.g. en-gb)
