On order checkout send more than 1 mail

Hello all,

for certain products I need a copy of the id-card and need to write to each customer a mail by hand. Now I want to automatize it but I cannot find the section/function which is sending a order success mail to the customer. Can someone say me in which file the send mail is triggered?
