Share Product Descriptions Among Several Products

Is there a way to share the same block of text for a product description across multiple products? What I have is a collection of similar products and would like to have the same lead-in text in each description, followed by custom product-specific text. Is there any extension that allows you to add some markup to the description that includes this common text, perhaps from a text file or some other storage location, and avoids having to retype/copy/paste it (and maintain it) across several products?
