Change amount into floating point Opencart 2.3.0.2

I run OC 2.3.0.2 and am trying to get the quantity on the product page to be floating point. It would need to accommodate 8 decimal places to the right and two to the left (e.g. 00.00000001). I did find a solution but for version 1.49 and am not sure if that would work with my version.
I have been trying to figure out how to do this and searching on here for this version so any help, or pointers, would be greatly appreciated.
