Hey there,
I have a question concerning gzip compression for my 2.3.0.2 shop.

I want to activate it, but I'm not sure if it will do anything at all and if it will not destroy my css files. I had some problems in the past with uncorrectly "compressed" css files.

So my question is, is it save to turn it on, and why there are 9 compression levels? What level to chose?

Thanks a lot!

Opencart does support GZIP without issues. In the response library, this is already handled.

you can use gzip compression.
it wont affect your css or anything.
Gzip compresses output from your site when sent to someone visiting your site, and when it arrives at their computer is is decompressed, ,you wont notice, ,much like downloading a zip and de zip when download has finished.
there a re 9 levels of compression, it was used to get a optimal between server load when compressing and bandwith you would save reducing download time.
now with recent download speeds gzip realy has no actual need anymore, testing on my download there is no speed advantage using gzip compared to not using it in fact turning it off is even faster becoase there is no time for compression and decompression.

exept for possibly creating a very nasty info page, once in a while, telling
you, that a Page cannot be decoded, or something like it. At last in my case,
and I don't just use a lowcost Server. :'(
just to mention it...
