Hi all,

I tried to upgrade to 2.3.0.2, but it failed. Not known to me at the time, i should of taken a backup of the myphp/sql file from my host. I did not know this was important at the time, as the host had told me i could use their provider restore feature (1&1). They forgot to add in that i need a back up of the database sql file!

I did take a full back up of the working pre upgrade 1.5.6 via FTP, and also a full backup sql file from the opencart back up/restore section of the Opencart admin page.

My issue is that i feel the best thing to do is to do a fresh install of 1.5.6 and then upload, via the opencart admin page, the Opencart back up sql file. Accept it will not accept it, as the back up was taken from one databse prefix (600682914), and now im on a new php databse (db654546097). I have left the failed upgrade on the database 600682914, where the working 1.5.6 was)

What is my best way forward? Do I need to install 1.5.6 on the same database it was on before so the back up will work? oh and here is the message when trying to use my back up on a fresh opencart install ......

Notice: Error: Table 'db654546097.address' doesn't exist
Error No: 1146
TRUNCATE TABLE `address` in /homepages/42/d600671604/htdocs/1.5.6/system/database/mysqliz.php on line 60

Did you manage to solve this? I apologise I got a little confused with your question.

In theory should be able to import the SQL file directly into a MYSQL database using the phpmyadmin feature in Cpanel.

not at present. It seems the sql back up form the admin page of opencart is not the same format as the sql stored by my host.

after trying my hardest for weeks, i have some of the site working, but cannot log into my admin page.

I get this

Notice: unserialize(): Error at offset 0 of 17423 bytes in /homepages/42/d600671604/htdocs/store/system/library/user.php on line 23Notice: unserialize(): Error at offset 0 of 17423 bytes in /homepages/42/d600671604/htdocs/store/system/library/user.php on line 47Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /homepages/42/d600671604/htdocs/store/admin/index.php:85) in /homepages/42/d600671604/htdocs/store/vqmod/vqcache/vq2-system_engine_controller.php on line 28Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /homepages/42/d600671604/htdocs/store/admin/index.php:85) in /homepages/42/d600671604/htdocs/store/vqmod/vqcache/vq2-system_engine_controller.php on line 29

Not really so, a Backup, done by the OC ADMIN Backup/Restore Function, will NOT restore any TABLES, but only their Content, if a Restore Procedure is made by any RESTORE Function, regardless of, how this Restore Attempt is made, INTO an empty new DB.
---
Therefore, a DB should have been copied/saved IN FULL, including it's TABLES, and everything, by USE of the Server MyAdmin DB Tool, before starting to play around with.
---
In addition, serialize/unserialize seems not longer to be Part of OC v.2.x. This means, that a 1.5.x DB-Content has to be updated, in several places, to match whatever OC v.2.x, even depending on the OC v2 Version used.

Try this tutorial 1.4 1.5 to 2.2https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaZzScMgZD4
or 1.5 to 2.0.1.1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOsOswYBGuU
Downloading v2.3.0.2 and using the included upgrade script is the best way to go. Depending on how the upgrade is done, you may need to manually remove the old payment, shipping and module files.

I have just upgraded from 1.5.5.1 to 2.3.0.2

What I did was.
Download/Exported the following list from my database.
database migration 1551-1

address

category
category description
category path
category to store

coupon
coupon category
coupon history
coupon product

customer
customer ban ip not in 2302
customer group
customer group description
customer history
customer ip
customer login

manufacturer
manufacturer to store

option
option description
option value
option value description

order
order history
order option
order product
order status
order total
order voucher

product
product description
product discount
product image
product option
product option value
product related
product reward
product special
product to category
product to layout
product to store

return
return history

setting

tax rate
tax rule

url alias

voucher
voucher history

zone to geo zone

I then installed a clean copy of 2.3.0.2 with a new clean database.

Once installed, I dropped the above list from the new 2302 database and uploaded the exported list from the previous data base.

All my orders, customer logins, products, categories etc are there. I have had to clean a few products in admin but has been no biggy.

I hope this helps someone :)..
