Hi,

I'm having issues with my Opencart store. So, I would like to just start from fresh.

Therefore, I would like to remove Opencart completely, then reinstall it, and then restore important data i.e. Orders, Customers, Products and Categories.

How do I do this?

Thanks

First of all you have to decide if you will use the already existing database furthermore, or should it be a new one.

Then, simply go to your sql management tool (e.g. phpMyAdmin) and make a full backup of the database (just to be on the save side).

If the database will be the same, you can skip the next step.
If the new installation will be the same shop version, make a database backup with the integrated back tool (this will export only the data, not the structure!).

Next step is the new installation.
I recommend to do this in another directoy or subdirectory (doing this way you will have the old store as reference or teststore furthermore). Whenever you do not need this store anymore, you can delete all folders and files.
Just install with all details - also new database credentials. Do not use the aready exsisting!
>> If you want to use the same database, just use another prefix for the tables <<

Depending on your first decision to use the existing database or a new one, edit both config.php (catalog & admin) - in case you want to use the old database - and change the data to the old. Otherwise leave them as they are.

That should be all.

Alternatively, if you'd like it done professionally I do offer my upgrade service here

I can do a "clean" upgrade that removes all non-core files as part of the upgrade and cleans the database of the remnants so you are left with only your data (orders, customers, products, etc) but none of the 3rd party mods.

Hi art123,

Read this first before attempting an "upgrade" - http://www.randemsystems.com/support/op ... n-2-1-0-1/

Hi,

In order to Uninstall Opencart, then Reinstall, and then Restore the Database. Could I use the Backup/Restore feature from Opencart 2 Admin to help with this?

For example, backup specific elements of the database I would like to later restore. Then remove Opencart 2 installation from my web host account. Then reinstall a fresh Opencart 2 installation. Then use the Backup/Restore feature from the Opencart 2 Admin to restore the database that I previously backed up?

Would this work?

Thanks

No, as indicated in the post the Backup & Restore feature in OpenCart 2x is not adequate. Either use the one I added to Backup & Restore or use phpMyAdmin to create a backup that you can use to restore your database (also noted in the post)
