Hi all,

I have searched but cannot find a answer to this question, though I may just be phrasing my question wrong?

Had a major problem with a site and in the end had to delete it and reinstall. http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=131962

I am now using 1.5.6.4 with the default theme that I am customising to make it look just like the store used to.

All I have done so far is some css changes. I then added 3 banner modules. The slider one, to the left, appears smaller than it used to - old shop looked like this:

Screen Shot 2014-10-04 at 19.27.03.png (842.48 KiB) Viewed 3465 times

I even increased the size of the banner and the image got smaller!

New install looks like this:

Screen Shot 2014-10-08 at 23.23.46.png (522.72 KiB) Viewed 3465 times

I installed the Latest and Featured modules with the settings below, and they are off to the right for some reason, see above.

Screen Shot 2014-10-08 at 23.37.35.png (39.23 KiB) Viewed 3465 times

What on earth is going on?

Thanks in advance for any help :)

had to continue in a new post so I can add another screen shot.

Firebug shows a slider that no longer exists and that is off to the right too:

This shows the modules sticking out to the right over the edge of the body:

So confused you have posted in the Opencart V2 thread... ;)

Don't worrry - it's late! From your original post:
All I have done so far is some css changes
Have you tried reverting back to the default css and see whether the layout is as expected? That might give you a place to start?

Thank you webvet,

How embarrassing :-[

I am pretty sure I did try that but I will do again.

I did want to use 2.0 and installed it but got stuck at not being able to find the menu bar colour in the css :(

Just tried the default stylsheet from the 1.5.6.4 Upload folder and it's still not right:

This was a fresh download of 1.5.6.4 as well :(

And this is what happens when I add dummy products:

Looking at Firebug - do you have something set in both column left and column right with an equal/lower sort order than then slideshow?

I would go back to basics:

1. What dimensions and sort order is Slideshow
2. Remove/disable all other modules and check with Firebug which divs are still present (make sure there is no 2nd slideshow)
3. Then add either the left or right banner (there only seemed to be a right banner image in your initial screenshot) and re-size the slideshow correctly. If there are still no erroneous div containers floating about, you should be ok to add a module below this?

Sorry - I can't recreate this, must be very frustrating for you! (and looking at all that whisky all day...)

Thank you again webvet

Luckily I don't drink alcohol but the pretty bottles do tempt me :)

1. What dimensions and sort order is Slideshow - 667 x 383, Content Top, 1
Screen Shot 2014-10-09 at 12.34.27.png

Screen Shot 2014-10-09 at 12.34.27.png (28.93 KiB) Viewed 3416 times

2. Remove/disable all other modules and check with Firebug which divs are still present (make sure there is no 2nd slideshow) - no other modules enabled, no 2nd slideshow, and Firebug still shows this:
Screen Shot 2014-10-09 at 12.25.36.png

Screen Shot 2014-10-09 at 12.25.36.png (684.58 KiB) Viewed 3416 times

3. Then add either the left or right banner (there only seemed to be a right banner image in your initial screenshot) and re-size the slideshow correctly. If there are still no erroneous div containers floating about, you should be ok to add a module below this? - added banner to the right and this is what Firebug shows:
Screen Shot 2014-10-09 at 12.37.23.png

The slider has 2 images in it, one larger than the other to see if it would fill the empty space but it does not :(

TAC

Ok - I have set the slideshow to Content Top, sort order 1 with a width of 785

Then a banner set to Column Right with a width of 180 and they both appear to display side-by-side as expected.

The next module is sitting aligned correctly to the left beneath these two.

This gives a total width of 785 + 180 = 965 (so I guess there must be some padding of 15px between them for a full 980px width of the container div)

You may need to use a graphics editor to get your slideshow image cropped/adjusted to keep in width:height ratio for a full 785px width image, or this will fill with whitespace. (Not sure if that last bit makes sense?)

Thank you very much :D

I make all the banners etc. in Photoshop and they were supposed to fit already...

I will amend them to the dimensions you've just said to get this thing working :)

I've done that and the slider & banners line up next to each other, but the banners are pushed way to the right.

My images for the slider are all 580 x 334px so that must be what size the slider was before. The banners are 303 x 175px. If I do the same maths as you and take 303 from 980 I get 677, so in theory a slideshow 662 wide should fit.

But if I change the settings to 662 x 381 px I still get the extra space to the right. It's as if the slider is dictating what size it wants to be?

I moved the 2 banners to the left by amending the css and it seemed to work. Then I remembered I could widen the right column in the css so I've done that now.
