I'm toying with the Idea of putting together an OpenCart Release that incorporates several of the contributions from the OpenCart Community.

Some of the updates will include:
  • My Decimal and Thousands Symbol Update (Here)
  • gv_rons SEF URL's Mods by Default
  • Built in Sub-Category display
  • Updated Paypal Images
  • The XHTML Update
  • The RSS Addon
  • Support for Table Prefixes (From install) to help with stores where their host allows only 1 mySQL DB
  • Plus Whatever I think useful or others suggest
All input is welcomed, Any suggestions considered. Preferably only existing contributions to be suggested.

I think some may find this beneficial :) Especially since it sounds like you already have most of the work finished.  Although, 0.8 may have some of these fixes integrated already. Lets see how the poll turns out.

If you make it idiot proof, they will just build a better idiot.

Good point JO, I'm having some troubles with the Database install procedure at the moment anyways and I've just got a huge realty site to build for a client in Portugal. So this is gonna be on the back burner for the next couple weeks at least :)

Don't you think it'd be worth waiting for v0.8?

I've been busy moving house the past 2 months along with some large real estate website builds so I haven't had a chance to finish this little project off.

I've decided to wait till 0.8 and then look at what mods would be beneficial and go from there.

A bit late to the game, but I too used to be a reloaded fan until realizing what a headache it was when trying to merge new core code in with older community contribs. You often end up having to handle the maintenance for every contrib you put into the reload, as well as test the whole thing each time. Especially with a cart like OpenCart that is still on the way up, getting new official versions every few weeks/months. I have to agree with hm2k with waiting for the next release and until its proven stable and all the kinks are out of it.

Just my opinion tho :)
